Most ants live outside on your property and spend their lives foraging for food to grow their colonies.

It is inevitable, the nests will grow and multiply until they find natural, or chemical limits. To control them, you can have spot or seasonal treatments done on your property or in the house.

If they are outside, chances are they are pavement ants or brown ants. They will destroy your property with their nests or try to enter the house to forage for food.  Insecticides will need to be applied responsibly and strategically to eliminate colonies and prevent environmental contamination.
Well done, a treatment that combines baits and insecticides will be able to limit the presence of ants around your house and in your home.

If after following the columns, you believe they live in the house BE CAREFUL!

If they are very very small and amber, check out the article on the pharaoh ant in our pest encyclopedia.
Pharaoh ants live in buildings and cannot stand being attacked with insecticide. They will split the colony into several independent colonies and your little ant problem will become a real nightmare.

If they are very big, all black or red and black, they are probably carpenter ants.
Visit our encyclopedia-of-parasites on the carpenter ant.
Carpenter ants possibly come from one or more nests installed in the structure of your home.
They need to be eliminated as they are considered a hidden defect when selling a home and they quickly destroy the structure by burrowing into it.

You have identified the ants?

If you are unsure about the nature of the ants that are walking around your home, contact us. A professional will identify them and tell you what to do to get rid of them.

A technician will be able to come to your home and apply the appropriate treatment that will get rid of the type of ants invading you.
He will use specialized baits that the ants will take back to the colony and also other judiciously placed insecticides to complete the job.
